This document presents field observations from the Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) Survey conducted in January/February and May/June 2009 in Southern Iraq. This report covers the findings in the governorates of Basrah, Missan, Thi-Qar, Kut, Qadissiya, Babylon, Najaf, Karbala. This survey is a joint effort between Nature Iraq (NI) and the Iraqi Ministry of Environment (MoE). The 2009 surveys represent the eighth and nine full winter and summer survey, respectively, conducted in Iraq since the start of the project in February 2005.
